I was reading the book of John recently, and particularly John 10:15 really struck me.
“As the Father knows Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep.”
He laid His life down for us. He sacrificed His precious, perfect life for us. He was a servant for us. Reading this passage really moved my heart because as His children, we’re to follow His example and be a servant. No matter how much it hurts or how tired we get. It’s not about me, or my desires, or my flesh, or my “needs”. It’s about serving others and fulfilling my calling. It’s about putting others first, above me. It’s about walking in humility among those I am serving and among this world. It’s about making myself low so I can lift others up. It’s about me decreasing and Him increasing in me. This isn’t my life, it’s His Life in me. I’m not called to live for myself, I’m called to live for Him. He was my example. He sacrificed His life for me and I’m to do the same for others.
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
Philippians 2:3-8
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
