This past Lord’s day while at assembly I came across a rare but wonderful read, it, unfortunately, came into my hands by the way of a saint who recently went to sleep but will meet the Lord on that day when the trump sounds (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
This small book published and distributed by Tom Westwood is packed with Biblical wisdom on the Christian Household (family). The book dates back (from what I can see) to at least the 1970’s possibly even further.
Table of Contents
- Four Marks of a Christian Home
- Christian Etiquette
- The Family Personality
- The Husband
- The Wife
- The Children
- The Father
- The Mother
Mr Westwood speaks about the importance of a Christ centred family, how by reading the holy scriptures we can learn essential Christian family virtues and how to adopt these practices into our homes.
Topics range from what marks a Christian home and then digs deeper into the family itself husband, wife, children, etiquette etc.
What I enjoyed about this book is that as the thoughts are presented expounded upon the main source and facts are always pointed back to the scriptures so that we can look further into God’s word and derive how we can make sure we are living a life in which the Lord is the focus. Pleasing the Lord in all things pertaining to our families and how we welcome visitors into our dwellings, keeping the Lord’s name a “household name” and keeping Him in our worship.
I would highly recommend this book to any serious Christian, plenty of knowledge here for the married or single in an easily digestible way.
It’s going to be hard coming across this book. Being that this is a rare book it’s highly unlikely you’ll find it in a Barnes and Noble, maybe try finding it in a rare books store or online.
Thanks for reading Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
